New passive income rules start in 2019: What incorporated physicians need to know
On January 1, 2019, new rules about passive income took effect, and many incorporated physicians could feel the consequences. As you probably remember, the government passed new tax legislation in June 2018 around private corporations and passive income. If your medical professional corporation earns too much passive income, this could limit access to the small business tax rate on your professional earnings.

The CAR Responds to the Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami Tuberculosis Elimination Framework and the 2019 Standing Committee on Finance’s Pre-Budget Consultation Report
On December 9, 2018, the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance released their 2019 Pre-Budget Report. The Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK) also published their Inuit Tuberculosis (TB) Elimination Framework on the same day. Included in both the Pre-Budget Report and Inuit Tuberculosis Elimination Framework is a focus on medical imaging technology and a recommendation for additional equipment to help with the eradication of TB.

With over 350 presenters, Canadian radiologists certainly made their mark at the annual the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) meeting. The RNSA is one of the largest conferences for radiologists in the world. The theme for the event was Tomorrow’s Radiology for Today. There was a strong focus on artificial intelligence in radiology and how this changes the future practice of radiologists.
