CAR increasing educational offerings – wants to know what members are looking for when it comes to CPD
One of the CAR’s top priorities for the next five years will be to provide increased CPD opportunities to its members. As such the CPD working group has been refreshed with a new mandate to oversee the planning, development and delivery of high quality CME/CPD programs to CAR members. It will also continue to oversee and contribute to the CAR’s role as an accrediting agent for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC). Read More

CAR and CRF partner with UBC Sauder School of Business to offer negotiations course for radiologists
Being a national specialty association allows the CAR to hear requests from radiologists in practice as well as medical imaging vendors. In multilateral conversations among the three groups — radiologists, industry and trade association — a recurring theme is dominating the exchange of ideas; that of getting the voices heard among hospitals, radiology departments, provincial governments and industry vendors to name a few, with the goal of improving imaging care for everyone. Obituary – Dr. Conway Joseph Don (1922-2017)
My colleagues and I are sad to record the death of Conway Don, a long standing member of the Canadian Association of Radiologists and its 2000 Gold Medalist. Dr. Don served as the first Professor and Chairman of the Department of Radiology at the University of Ottawa, and as Department Head at the Ottawa General Hospital from 1958 to 1988. Read More
CAR Delegates in Ottawa for second annual advocacy event on Parliament Hill
On November 6-7, members of the CAR were on Parliament Hill to celebrate International Day of Radiology and pay tribute to the work being done by their colleagues across Canada. This year, building upon the success of the last year's CAR Day on the Hill, the event has grown to encompass two days of advocacy and awareness-raising about the value of radiology and the importance of imaging for patient care. CAR develops infographic on vital role of radiologists, asking members to partake in awareness-raising campaign
Radiologists play a pivotal role in patient care; however, there are still many people who don't know this, especially among the general public. In order to raise awareness, the CAR is launching the "#iamyourradiologist" campaign on November 8 – the International Day of Radiology. The goal is to help the public understand who radiologists are, what they do, and the value they contribute to patient care.

Dr. Raquel Z. delCarpio-O'Donovan will be receiving the prestigious Albert-Jutras Prize during the 54th Annual Congress of the Société de Radiologie du Québec in November 2017 in Montreal.
Albert Jutras was one of the pioneers of radiology in Quebec and his reputation has spread beyond our borders. This award recognizes and highlights the remarkable career of a radiologist working in a community hospital, academic or otherwise, in radiology or related fields.
