Flexible choices of single or multiple weeks starting July 2023 – July 2024. The ideal candidate will participate in the reporting of all general pediatric radiology plain films, ultrasounds, CTs and MRIs, as well as in the performance of GI/GU procedures. - Participate equally in provision of abdominal on-call services at the Vancouver General Hospital, University of British Columbia Hospital and BC Women’s Hospital.
- Teaching activities include undergraduate instruction and supervision of residents in diagnostic radiology and affiliated specialties. The Abdominal Imaging Fellowship Program is based at Vancouver General Hospital, and currently accepts six clinical fellows annually. In addition to teaching responsibilities to the fellows, there are many research opportunities available. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the section’s academic and administrative mandate.
- The candidate must hold an MD degree or equivalent
- The candidate must have completed fellowship training in Body/Abdominal Radiology (or equivalent).
- All applicants must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC).
- All applicants must be eligible for licensure in the province of British Columbia.
- University appointment at the University of British Columbia will be granted in the clinical stream commensurate with previous rank/experience.
- Candidates will have expertise in interpretation of general ultrasound, abdominal CT and MRI, diagnostic abdominal fluoroscopy and abdominal radiographs.
- Be proficient in ultrasound and CT- guided biopsy and drainage procedures.
- Be accredited and proficient in the reporting of CT Colonography examinations.
- Be familiar with the performance of MR fusion-Ultrasound guided prostate biopsy.
- Experience with 3T MRI, Advanced MRI, US and CT Techniques including MR or US Elastrography and Dual-Energy CT would be a significant advantage including research in these areas.
- Ability to interpret full body imaging would be an asset, not a requirement, in order to support remote Radiology service across the province of BC.

The Department of Medical Imaging at Western University is an integrated city-wide sub-specialty practice across the three Hospital sites: University Hospital (UH) and Victoria Hospital (VH), collectively known as the London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC), and St. Joseph’s Health Care London (St. Joseph’s). As the only Academic Health Sciences Centre in the second largest Local Health Integration Network in Ontario, the Department provides multiple regional services to a population of >2M. There are opportunities for an enthusiastic radiologist to contribute to the building of an integrated, multidisciplinary and collegial Academic Medical Imaging Department in the Musculoskeletal Division. Academic and Clinical Environment: The City Wide Department of Medical Imaging (www.schulich.uwo.ca/medimaging) has clinical activities based at St Joseph’s Health Care London (www.sjhc.london.on.ca) and at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) (www.lhsc.on.ca); with research activities based in the Lawson Research Institute (www.lawsonresearch.ca) and at the Robarts Research Institute (www.robarts.ca). The academic training program is Royal College accredited and provides medical imaging education at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
The faculty consists of 55 Radiologists, 7 Nuclear Medicine physicians and 10 Imaging Scientists providing a subspecialty imaging program to a catchment population of approximately 1.5M people. The Department provides regional diagnostic imaging and interventional programs and has strong relationships with community hospital partners.
The Department is undergoing academic transformation and is hiring a new faculty position for a radiologist with expertise in Musculoskeletal Imaging. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage in a blended academic practice that spans the academic - community hospital continuum.
Position Profile: The successful candidate will be appointed in a full-time limited term Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Medical Imaging at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to:
- provide a full range of diagnostic services required of a Musculoskeletal Radiologist including X-ray, Ultrasound, CT and MRI;
- participate in image guided MSK procedures such as diagnostic/therapeutic injections and biopsies;
- Participate in general radiology on-call;
- Participate in general radiology in LXA clinics and community hospitals outside London.
The successful candidate must be interested in pursuing a strong academic career and will be expected to actively participate in the Department of Medical Imaging’s academic, research and education initiatives including teaching and supervision of undergraduate, and postgraduate trainees and fellows.
Qualifications: The successful candidate must have the following:- An MD or equivalent and be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
- Applicants should be Board certified in Diagnostic Radiology by either the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or in the jurisdiction where they trained (if not in Canada).
- Successful completion of a Fellowship in Musculoskeletal Imaging prior to starting in the role.
