Canada’s radiology community is packing their suitcases and preparing to gather in Montreal for the CAR’s Annual Scientific Meeting (CAR 2023) from April 27-30. The premiere radiology event in Canada, CAR 2023 is taking place at a beautiful new venue – Le Westin Montreal – and offers a weekend full of exciting events.
“It is always a very positive event,” said Dr. Tanya Chawla. “Over the years this is a community I got to know and have become familiar with, more like family.”
Dr. Chawla is part of the Saturday afternoon panel Multidisciplinary Approaches to Abdominal Imaging (Crohn’s) and will give a presentation entitled Cross Sectional Imaging of Crohn’s Disease. She says the panel will feature an insightful guest.
“At the Crohn’s panel we will have a patient with us to discuss their own experiences. It is not often that we can hear firsthand accounts of a person’s life going through Crohn’s, what is going through their mind and what their life journey has been like.”
Dr. Chawla is a veteran of this and many other radiology events and knows how well rounded an experience CAR 2023 will be.
“It is great to see an event that extends beyond the confines of education. There are chances to network and discuss things of intellectual interest. It caters to radiologists in a range of different experiences and is great for those who are coming for first time,” she said. “It is a very home-grown meeting, especially for trainees, because the educational content is tailored to a Canadian environment and training specific to our healthcare system. There is lots of very relevant content for establishing careers and future practice. There is a great amount of knowledge to be obtained but also inspirational moments from colleagues, established speakers, and people who are very well known in their field.”
Industry partners are also an important presence at the event, giving attendees the chance to see advancements in equipment and to see where the industry is headed. Overall, Dr. Chawla is greatly anticipating CAR 2023 to be a success and a memorable experience that it continues to be.
“I really encourage people to come to the meeting. The Scientific Planning Committee has put together a great lineup of content. There are amazing plenaries and cutting-edge sessions curated by the CAR’s Affiliate Societies. More than anything else I am looking forward to seeing people face to face.”
