Amazon Web Services (AWS) has launched AWS DigiHealth, a one day, no-cost program designed to raise awareness of the cloud as a tool to deliver citizen centric services across the health care sector. It connects implementers to the knowledge and resources needed to accelerate digital transformation.
The program is eligible for working healthcare professionals in IT, digital health, and healthcare delivery to upskill, learn about cloud computing concepts, and understand how the cloud can help them transform their organization and spur innovation. Topics include cloud concepts and the AWS global infrastructure, the cloud value proposition, cloud architectural principles, security and compliance, billing, account management, and pricing models. The program also highlights relevant Canadian customer use cases on their successful cloud implementations and projects.
According to the Canada Medical Association, there are three major developments that can revolutionize the delivery of medicine and health care in Canada; virtual care, big health data, and technology development. The program supports these developments by highlighting how computing technology can help play an important role in the future of healthcare.
The program uses content from foundational cloud courses aligned to the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam offered through AWS Training and Certification and AWS Academy. The program directly helps attendees prepare for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam (CPE), which is a globally recognized, industry-leading, cloud certification that validates candidate’s AWS skills to current and prospective employers. Having an AWS certification means you have some of the most sought-after cloud computing skills and the required level of expertise to work efficiently on cloud-based projects.
The program successfully piloted in 2019 with a range of participants from government and nonprofit, including Providence Healthcare, Hospital for Sick Children, Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, Island Health, and many others. Based on the positive feedback from the pilot, the program has expanded its availability to accommodate more sessions across Canada in 2021 and French sessions taking place in 2022.
