During CAR 2025 in Montréal from April 3-6, the CAR Affiliate Societies will be gathering and are excited to announce the successful presidency transitions for three Affiliate Societies. The CETARS, the CSAR, and the CSTR are all welcoming new Presidents and Vice-Presidents as they begin their new terms.
The CAR is pleased to introduce these new leaders and extend congratulations to them as they take on their roles.
We also want to take this opportunity to thank and express our gratitude to the former Presidents who will assume the Past-President role for each Affiliate Society: Drs. Elsie Nguyen (CSTR), Tanya Chawla (CSAR), Michael Patlas (CETARS) for their leadership, dedication, hard work, and contributions.

Dr. Cameron Hague will assume the role of President for the CSTR with Dr. Jana Taylor serving as Vice-President.
“I am thrilled to be taking on the role of the CSTR President. Following in the footsteps of Drs. (Elsie) Nguyen, (Daria) Manos, and (Carole) Dennie will be no easy task!
I work at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, BC as a cardiothoracic and body imager. I hope to apply my skills as a current Killam Teaching Laureate, former UBC Diagnostic Radiology Program Director and Researcher to this space.
We have a great team at the CSTR and are excited to bring the world of cardiothoracic imaging to the radiology community in Canada and abroad via wide range of advocacy and educational initiatives like guideline publication, ASM presentations, increased online learning materials, and increased partnership with the Society of Thoracic Radiology.
We are looking to grow our society, strengthen existing partnerships and build new ones as we move forward. Join us at the CSTR!”
Dr. Cameron Hague

Dr. Iain Kirpatrick will assume the role of President for the CSAR with Dr. Angus Hartery serving as Vice-President
“I am incredibly honoured to be the new president of the Canadian Society of Abdominal Radiology (CSAR). I want to acknowledge our past presidents, Drs. Silvia Chang and Tanya Chawla, who have grown the society to where it is now and fostered an environment of collegiality, inclusivity, and scholarship.
I am the clinical and academic Section Head of Abdominal Imaging for Manitoba and a Professor of Radiology at the University of Manitoba. Over the years it has been my privilege to get to know many of the other abdominal radiologists throughout the country. Initially, I made most of my connections through the Canadian Association of Radiology (which remains a valued partner of CSAR) and since CSAR was created, I now feel that I have a robust network of abdominal colleagues who I can call on for support and assistance.
This, to me, is one of the greatest strengths of the CSAR. The CSAR brings us together to answer clinical questions, collaborate on research, educate each other, and create consensus practice guidelines. I have met some of my best friends through CAR and CSAR. As the new president, I would like to work on increasing our opportunities for networking and communicating easily with one another on a day-to-day basis, so that any abdominal imager in Canada feels supported.
At the same time, I wish to continue our other core goals of education (with regular webinars for membership on hot topics in abdominal radiology) and shaping clinical practice through the development of white papers and guidelines. Our work on topics such as prostate MRI, the evaluation of right lower quadrant pain, assessing incidental findings, and the modern workup of endometriosis has had a tangible impact on Canadian radiology. It is incredibly satisfying to have seen the society evolve from the planning stages to become such a positive influence in our specialty.
I am thrilled to partner with Dr. Angus Hartery, a renowned Canadian educator, who is our new Vice-President. Together we hope that any radiologist practicing abdominal imaging who has not yet signed up for CSAR, consider becoming a member. Join us on our journey and become part of the family!”
Dr. Iain Kirkpatrick

Dr. Adan Sheikh will assume the role of President for the CETARS, with Dr. Ferco Berger serving as Vice-President.
“It is both an honor and a privilege to serve as the new President of the Canadian Emergency, Trauma, and Acute Care Radiology Society (CETARS). I am deeply grateful to Past-Presidents Drs. Savvas Nicolaou and Michael Patlas for their visionary leadership, which has helped the CETARS grow into a leading force in emergency and trauma imaging.
As a radiologist specializing in trauma imaging, I am passionate about advancing cutting-edge imaging techniques to improve the care of critically ill and injured patients. The CETARS has already achieved remarkable progress, and I am excited to continue this momentum by fostering innovation, research, and education within our community.
The field of imaging is rapidly evolving, and its impact on improving patient outcomes cannot be overstated. I am committed to ensuring that the CETARS remains a leader in the field, promoting collaboration and inclusivity across Canada and beyond.
I am fortunate to work alongside our talented and dedicated executive committee. Together, we will continue to build a strong network, share knowledge, and shape the future of emergency and trauma imaging, ultimately making a lasting impact on patient care worldwide.”
