As part of our strategic objective to deliver and encourage new research and technologies, the Canadian Association of Radiologists has joined forces with the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH).
CADTH is an independent, not-for-profit organization responsible for providing healthcare decision-makers with objective evidence to help make informed decisions on the optimal use of health technologies, including drugs and diagnostic tests as well as medical, dental and surgical devices and procedures.
Created in 1989, CADTH was born from the idea of providing Canadians with a coordinated approach to the assessment of health technologies. CADTH is not only a leader in assessing health technologies; it also provides key decision-makers with advice and recommendations regarding the implementation of new and existing health technologies. CADTH cultivates an environment of evidence generation and adoption across Canada. Its aim is to set the standard, leading to better decisions in healthcare across the country.
CADTH’s priorities align well with the CAR’s commitment to deliver quality care to Canadians. CADTH is looking forward to partnering with the CAR from a stakeholder engagement perspective. It sees value in the research that the CAR is undertaking, especially on medical-imaging equipment and system innovation.
CADTH has done a significant amount of work on Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications and is eager to engage with the CAR AI Working Group. It will be playing an important role in the Value of Radiology 2.0, and working with the Conference Board of Canada to produce this upcoming report.
This new partnership aligns with the CAR’s key initiative in improving patient care: to work with governments, health professionals, and technology leaders to make optimal use of medical imaging in Canada.
