One of the CAR’s top priorities for the next five years will be to provide increased CPD opportunities to its members. As such the CPD working group has been refreshed with a new mandate to oversee the planning, development and delivery of high quality CME/CPD programs to CAR members. It will also continue to oversee and contribute to the CAR’s role as an accrediting agent for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).
In its recently approved 2018-2022 Strategic Plan, the CAR Board identified education as one of the key pillars to increase and enhance eLearning opportunities offered to its membership. The CAR is currently collaborating with the CPD WG to implement a Learning Management System (LMS). Through this LMS, members will have access to innovative and interactive CanMEDS competency-related content in various user-friendly and intuitive eLearning programs.
In an effort to help drive the LMS and learning and development initiative, a needs assessment is being conducted to assist and guide the learning needs of the membership. One of the components of this is a CPD activity assessment questionnaire, which will be used to facilitate the development of a CPD framework and implementation strategy in alignment with the strategic plan. The CAR sent this questionnaire out to its members on Thursday February 8. If you haven’t already done so, we urge you to fill it out.
The working group is currently comprised of 11 members, we’d love to have a full composite of 15. If you’d like to assist in the accreditation, and promotion of opportunities for continuing medical education and research – join the CPD Working Group and help radiologists stay at the leading edge of medical imaging healthcare!
