The CAR could not be more pleased to return to Chicago for the Radiological Society of North America’s Annual Meeting from November 26th-29th. With over 300 presenters, Canadian radiologists certainly made their mark on the international stage.
The RNSA event is the largest conferences for radiologists in the world. The theme for the event was Leading Through Change. The focus of the meeting was on the evolving field of radiology and centered on how radiology professionals can be intentional and proactive as they navigate and lead others through change. Over 40,000 radiologists and other medical imaging professionals travelled from across the globe to attend this prestigious event. There was also an online component which welcomed 10,000 radiologists and radiologists-in-training.
The CAR was especially proud of the Canadian presence and took this opportunity to host our signature Canadian reception at the historic Palmer House Hotel to coincide with the conference. Our members had an opportunity to network and engage in some fun casino games as part of this event. Our reception was a success with over 250 members in attendance.

Our sponsors for this event included corporate partners, Bayer, Bracco, Hologic, Lanier Healthcare, Nuance, MD Financial Management (MDFM)/Scotiabank and Siemens Healthineers. We thank them for supporting the CAR.
While in Chicago, the CAR had the opportunity to meet with senior leaders from the RSNA, the Royal College of Radiology (UK), the American College of Radiology and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists. We spoke about best practices and future partnership on initiatives such as clinical decision support, education, and artificial intelligence. We also met with our corporate partners and provided an update on our initiatives and discussed future areas for collaboration. The meetings were all very positive, and it was inspiring to see the overwhelming support for the CAR and acknowledgement of our success over the last few years. We also had the opportunity to connect with the Affiliate Societies (the CanSPR, the CETARS, the CSAR and the CSTR) and it was great to meet face to face.
“It was such a great experience to represent the CAR at the RSNA. Meeting with the various societies was very informative. Having visibility at international events like RSNA will help us to promote Canadian initiatives and for the CAR to continue to grow on the world scene.”- Dr. Ania Kielar, CAR President
Our members left quite an impression at the RSNA. It is important for the CAR to continue to be visible at these meetings. It helps to raise awareness for the work that Canadian radiologists are doing but also frames a picture for innovation in Canada.
