I look forward to starting my term as the new Chair of the CAR Resident and Fellow Section (RFS). I am a second-year radiology resident at McGill University who is passionate about student leadership, medical education, and global health.
In collaboration with the Past-Chair, Bill Chahal, I will work with radiology residents, fellows, and medical students from all 16 Canadian residency programs to promote the value of radiology. This year, in addition to the Past-Chair, we have expanded our RFS standing committee to include the positions of Vice-Chair, Secretary-Treasurer and Medical Student Network Coordinator.
These past few weeks, we have been focusing on assessing the impact of COVID-19 on our radiology trainees by sending out national surveys and following up with our PGY-5 residents. This term, I am pleased to announce that we are formally launching our medical student network, bringing together radiology student interest groups across Canada. We are also focusing on expanding our fellowship and electives database to facilitate applications for all residents. Fellowship opportunities can be accessed through the CAR member portal. Other priorities during this term will include increasing educational opportunities on RAD Academy and raising awareness about global outreach in radiology.
We are looking forward to encouraging radiology trainees to become engaged in local, national, and international advocacy projects as CAR members. Seek out your local RFS Liaisons here.
