- Eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Prince Edward Island;
- Eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada;
- Hold MCCQE Part I or Licentiate of Medical Council of Canada (LMCC) equivalent;
- Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA);
- Appointment to the Health PEI Medical Staff and appropriate privileging;
- Work and clinical experience in Canada; Formal leadership training an asset.

- The Radiographer uses X-rays, and other forms of imaging technology, such as Mamo, CT, MRI, Dexa and Fluoroscopy, to examine patients. He/she is responsible for acquiring the images. The primary purpose of the Radiographer is to provide information to diagnose patient illnesses by operating radiologic equipment to produce radiographs that are accurate and complete and in accordance to the policies and procedures of the hospital.
- Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls and to set exposure factors abiding by the ALARA principal. Also responsible for assessing patients and their clinical requirements to determine appropriate radiographic techniques.
- Performs a range of radiographic examinations on patients to produce high-quality images.
- Assists in more complex radiological examinations working with radiologists, doctors and surgeons for interventional procedures.
- Provides support and reassurance to patients, considering their physical and psychological needs by gaining patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of treatment; answering questions.
- Observe and maintain contact with patients during their waiting, examination and post-examination stay in the department.
- Records imaging identification and patient documentation quickly and accurately by observing protocols to ensure compliance with patient confidentiality guidelines.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations also by understanding and observing health and safety at work and welfare issues. Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors.
- Ensures operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment and supplies inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; participating in professional societies.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols; following drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs, such as contrast media.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- BSc Radiology
- Radiography experience of at least 5 years: skilled in the use of medical technologies such as Mammography, Sono Mammography, MRI, CT, C-ARM and X-Ray as well as performing diagnostic procedures.
- Must be licensed in one of these jurisdictions; Jamaica, USA, UK, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand or Australia, or have met the Caribbean Regional Registration (RENR) requirements in or to register with the Cayman Islands’ Council for Professions Allied with Medicine (CPAM)
- Basic Life Support Provider Certification.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure in a stressful environment.

Flexible choices of single or multiple weeks starting July 2023 – July 2024. The ideal candidate will participate in the reporting of all general pediatric radiology plain films, ultrasounds, CTs and MRIs, as well as in the performance of GI/GU procedures. Pediatric neuroradiology and pediatric nuclear medicine coverage is not needed. The candidate will also be responsible for the reporting of some of the Outpatient and Urgent Care adult ultrasounds, as well as plain films from the local extended care facility. Weekday pager on-call coverage (no reporting requirement) is expected. Clinical service is provided to a population of approximately 600,000 in Southeastern Ontario in two teaching hospitals, Kingston Health Sciences Centre and Providence Care.This locum tenens will work out of the Hotel Dieu Hospital and Kingston General Hospital sites, the latter a 450-bed acute-care academic hospital.
