General Radiologist – Comox Valley and Campbell River

The Island Health Department of Medical Imaging is seeking a full time General Radiologist for the North Island hospitals Comox Valley and Campbell River.

These facilities opened in the fall of 2017 and medical Imaging services at both hospitals include general x-ray, two fixed MRI, on-site CT, fluoroscopy, mammography, ultrasound and interventional procedures, all within a fully functional PACS environment. Additionally, at the Comox Valley Hospital, there is nuclear medicine service.

Eligible candidates must hold Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Radiology and full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC.

The position includes CT, MRI, US, DR, Fluoroscopy procedures, breast imaging, and basic non-vascular interventional procedures. The successful candidate may elect to reside in either Campbell River or Comox.

  • Relocation Costs Reimbursement to a maximum of $15,000;

Abbotsford Regional Hospital Medical Imaging Department is recruiting one full-time general radiologist. This is a permanent position.

The successful applicants will be expected to provide diagnostic medical imaging at a regional care hospital (Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Agency) and four community hospitals in the Fraser Valley area of British Columbia (Chilliwack General, Langley Memorial, Mission Memorial and Fraser Canyon Hospitals) in general Radiography, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound, CT, minor procedures, and MRI.

Members of Valley Medical Imaging (VMI), a dynamic, collegial 25-member group, provide radiologist services at all the above hospitals. The group also serves three (3) modern, vibrant, fully digital clinics in Langley, Abbotsford and Chilliwack.

The position offers competitive remuneration.

The team is currently accepting applicants holding full license or provisional license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC, and those who have or are eligible for FRCPC in Diagnostic Radiology.

Chilliwack General Hospital
Chilliwack General Hospital is a 131 bed, University of BC affiliated community hospital offering medical, surgical, obstetrics, psychiatry, and a regional eye centre, as well as 24/7 emergency services with 61,900 visits annually.

Fraser Canyon Hospital
Fraser Canyon Hospital is a 20-bed community hospital in Hope, BC, providing sub-acute, ambulatory and palliative care as well as 24/7 emergency services with 11,216 visits annually.

Langley Memorial Hospital
Langley Memorial Hospital is a community hospital with 188 acute beds offering medical, surgical, obstetrics, pediatrics, psychiatry, critical care, ambulatory care as well as 24/7 emergency services with 47,952 visits annually.

Mission Memorial Hospital
Mission Memorial Hospital is a 45-bed community hospital providing acute and ambulatory care as well as 24/7 emergency services with 21,059 visits annually.

Pacific Medical Imaging (PMI) is seeking a full time Radiologist. PMI is a dynamic, 22-member Radiology Practice that services a tertiary care hospital (Royal Columbian Hospital), a community hospital (Eagle Ridge Hospital) and a community imaging clinic (MedRay Imaging).

Royal Columbian Hospital is a busy site located in New Westminster and provides tertiary care services to the Fraser Health Authority in Neurosciences, Cardiovascular, Trauma, Obstetrics/Perinatology, and Interventional Radiology. Eagle Ridge Hospital is situated in the beautiful and rapidly growing suburb of Port Moody and provides community level hospital services to Port Moody, Port Coquitlam and Coquitlam. MedRay Imaging in Coquitlam (www.medrayimaging.com) is a modern, vibrant fully digital facility providing the whole range of community imaging services including MRI, and a BC Cancer Breast Screening Centre.

You will be engaged in diagnostic medical imaging services at all sites, which can include General Radiography, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound, CT, Breast Imaging, MRI and Interventional Radiology. This position consists of approximately 50% IR. The IR practice encompasses the entire spectrum of IR procedures including arterial and venous interventions, cerebral angiography, acute endovascular stroke intervention, spine and body interventions, and Interventional Oncology including thermal ablation.

The successful candidate must fulfill the requirements of the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, maintain staff privileges, maintain medical licensure and malpractice insurance, and undertake a reasonable amount of continuing medical education. Recruitment will proceed as per the FHA Medical Staff Bylaws.

The Department of Medical Imaging at Ridge Meadows Hospital is seeking radiologists to join our vibrant and growing community practice, to commensurate with a new MRI service and expansion of existing modalities. Maple Ridge is one of the fastest growing communities in British Columbia, boasting beautiful natural surroundings with a variety of outdoor activities, a diverse population and excellent access to downtown Vancouver. Ridge Meadows Hospital is part of the Fraser Health Authority, consisting of 157 acute care beds and receiving over 43,000 Emergency Room visits annually.

Time required: Negotiable. Call responsibilities are split amongst group members Application deadline: Rolling applications accepted. Daily duties include radiography, fluoroscopy, general ultrasound, diagnostic breast imaging, musculoskeletal ultrasound, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and a variety of image-guided procedures. Equipment currently consists of two dedicated DR radiography units, a Toshiba fixed-fluoroscopy C-arm unit, a GE portable ultrasound unit, four GE fully equipped clinical ultrasound units, a new GE 64-slice CT scanner, and a new, state-of-the-art 1.5T GE MRI unit that came into clinical service in Fall 2020. The Department is proud to be one of two early adoption sites for GE’s AIR ReconTM Deep Learning image reconstruction software.

The group emphasizes evidenced-based practice, quality, strong communication, a collegial work environment, and scheduling flexibility.

The successful candidates will be comfortable with general radiography and ultrasound, breast imaging, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging, and basic interventional procedures. Eligibility for licensure by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia is required. Fellowship in an area of interest, particularly MRI or neuroimaging would be an asset.

With a new hospital planned to open in 2027, and expansion of radiologic services, this position provides a unique and exciting opportunity to participate in designing and optimizing both a hospital and imaging department.

The successful candidate will have proficiency in CT, US, MRI, Mammography, Fluoroscopy, BMD and basic interventional procedures as well as:

  • Flexibility, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work harmoniously with and contribute to a small group practice of 7 Radiologist.
  • MRI or MSK would be an asset.
  •  Willingness to share in administrative roles and future leadership of the group.
  • Interest in living in the local island community.
  • Training in or a willingness to train in CT Cardiac Coronary Angiography and CT Colonography.
  • Preference for lifestyle-based practice, with abundant vacation time and flexibility, but willingness to increase workload as needed.
