The CAR is immensely proud of the work of its members and staff in building a reimagined Continuing Professional Development (CPD) platform.
The platform, launched alongside the recently updated CAR website, allowing members to access the latest educational content with ease, from on-demand webinars to expertly developed eCourses.
“The platform provides content on a wide range of topics in radiology which is curated by many of the leading experts in Canada. It also provides wider access to lectures given at the CAR Annual Scientific Meeting that may be of specific interest to Canadian radiologists,” said Dr. Vivek Singh, Vice-Chair of the CPD Standing Committee.
“The new eLearning platform has been designed with a strong emphasis on accessibility and ease of use,” added Dr. Andrew Chung, CPD Standing Committee Chair. “One of the key improvements is the move to a single, unified login through members’ CAR accounts, eliminating the need for separate credentials and making it much easier to access educational content directly from the CAR website.”
Dr. Chung says that navigating the platform has also been streamlined, allowing members to quickly and easily find their desired content and identify relevant learning activities, such as Section 2 and Section 3 credits. “Members can expect an expanding range of high-quality, radiology-focused learning developed with a Canadian perspective, ensuring relevance to clinical practice across subspecialties and career stages,” he said.

The platform’s fresh, clean esthetic enables members to quickly and intuitively access the content they need and delivers on the CAR CPD Program Mission to empower radiologists and trainees across Canada with lifelong learning opportunities that enhance their skills, improve patient care, and advance the field of radiology. “Content is developed with a clear understanding of the Canadian practice environment and is organized in a way that aligns directly with Royal College Maintenance of Certification requirements,” said Dr. Chung. “Importantly, the platform also serves as a centralized hub for CAR education, allowing members to access high-quality, specialty-specific content within the context of their existing membership. In this way, it complements other available resources while offering a uniquely Canadian, practice-aligned educational experience.”
He says that the CAR has recently undertaken significant work to strengthen and formalize the activity development process, with the goal of ensuring that its educational offerings are closely aligned with what members actually want and need.
“This process begins with the annual CAR membership survey, which gives members a direct voice in shaping future CPD activities by identifying priority learning areas across the radiology community. Those identified needs are then shared with a broad range of stakeholder groups and Affiliate Societies, including subspecialty organizations and training program leadership. These groups review the survey results and propose educational activities that they feel will best address the gaps and priorities highlighted by members.”
From there, says Dr. Chung, proposed activities are reviewed by the CPD Standing Committee using a structured evaluation framework, including considering factors such as relevance to member-identified needs, applicability to Canadian practice, educational value, anticipated impact, and feasibility. This, he says, helps ensure that selected activities are not only high quality, but also practical, timely, and meaningful for members.
“This is an ongoing and iterative process. Ideas that are not prioritized each year are not discarded, but instead revisited in future cycles, informed again by member feedback. In this way, the CAR has established a continuous feedback loop that allows its educational programming to evolve alongside the needs of its members.”
For Dr. Singh, the overall goal of the platform is to provide Canadian radiologists with content that is relevant to whatever setting they happen to work in.
“Ideally, it will help to facilitate consistent and up-to-date practice across the country. It can also help to address needs that may be specific to the Canadian radiology context.”
Dr. Chung adds that another important goal of the platform is to increase awareness and engagement.
“As the platform continues to grow, there is a strong emphasis on making it a more visible, accessible, and widely used resource for Canadian radiologists and trainees. Over time, the aim is for the platform to become a trusted destination for CPD, where members can reliably find high-quality, relevant content that supports both their day-to-day practice and their Maintenance of Certification requirements.”
He noted that beneath all these priorities is a commitment to providing education that reflects the Canadian context, supporting radiologists across a range of practice settings and career stages, and helping to build a cohesive and responsive national learning environment.
