Physician Parental Leave Across Canada
Parental leave policies in Canada are generally governed by federal and provincial/territorial laws. Doctors in Canada are entitled to parental leave similar to other employees.
Federal Parental Leave:
The federal government in Canada provides parental leave benefits through the Employment Insurance (EI) program. Doctors, like other eligible employees, can apply for EI benefits during their parental leave.
Provincial and Territorial Variations:
In addition to federal parental leave benefits, provinces and territories in Canada may have their own labor laws and regulations that affect parental leave policies. These can vary, and doctors need to consider both federal and provincial/territorial rules. Some provinces and territories may provide additional benefits or specific provisions for certain industries or professions.
