Emergency Imaging Textbook Peaks in Amazon Top 100

When a textbook can maintain a place on Amazon’s Best Seller list, the work demonstrates a level of academic authority that is respected and consistently in demand.

Dr. Michael Patlas (University of Toronto) authored a textbook that recently peaked in the top 20 out of 100 textbooks in its category.

Announced by the University of Toronto Department of Medical Imaging on social media, Atlas of Emergency Imaging from Head-to-Toe reached as high as #19 among the best-selling trauma surgery textbooks on Amazon.

“This is the most comprehensive emergency and trauma radiology textbook with dedicated sections on pediatric emergency radiology and chapters focused on the role of AI in Interventional radiology in emergency radiology,” said Dr. Patlas.

First published in 2022, the textbook also currently ranks #150 in the Radiology category, and #227 out of all Emergency Medicine books on the platform. The second expanded edition will be in print in August 2025 with new sections focused on geriatric emergencies and special considerations in emergency radiology. Dr. Patlas says it will feature several notable CAR members.

“There are 171 contributors for 2nd edition including many CAR members. Of note, Dr. Carlos Torres (University of Ottawa), Dr. Elka Miller (University of Toronto) and Dr. Iain Kirkpatrick (University of Manitoba) all served as Section Editors.”

Congratulations to Dr. Patlas and all the contributors for the textbook’s sustained success.
