Practice Guidelines

Practice Guidelines

The Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR) collaborates with subject-matter experts through dedicated working groups to develop national practice guidelines that support safe, effective, and high-quality healthcare for Canadians. In select cases, CAR also partners with other professional organizations to ensure a broad, multidisciplinary perspective.

These evidence-based guidelines establish core principles for performing and interpreting medical imaging. They serve as a trusted resource for healthcare professionals and industry partners, helping standardize care, advance clinical quality, and reinforce the role of radiologists in delivering optimal diagnostic outcomes.

Disclaimer

The Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR) Clinical Practice Guidelines are intended to serve as guiding principles for the delivery of optimal radiological care. These guidelines are not prescriptive and may be adapted by physicians based on individual patient circumstances and the resources available in their clinical setting.

Adherence to CAR guidelines does not guarantee a specific clinical outcome and should not be construed as encompassing all appropriate methods of care, nor as excluding other reasonable approaches aimed at achieving comparable results. The guidelines are not intended to establish a legal standard of care or professional conduct. A deviation from these guidelines does not constitute or imply a departure from an acceptable standard of medical practice.
