The Canadian Association of Radiologists Journal (CARJ) is pleased to welcome new faces to the Editors-in-Training (EIT) Program and Reviewer Mentorship Program.
The CARJ would like to introduce Dr. David Li and Dr. Niamh O’Halloran as the new Canadian and International EITs, respectively.
The EIT Program gives residents an opportunity to bring their perspectives to the CARJ and to teach them more about the inner workings of academic publishing.
Dr. Li is a PGY-3 diagnostic radiology resident at Western University and has co-authored seven publications in the CARJ. His research has primarily focused on AI and medical education by evaluating the diagnostic performance of large language models and strategies to mitigate algorithmic bias.
Dr. O’Halloran joins the EIT Program as this year’s top applicant in the CARJ’s ongoing partnership with the Faculty of Radiologists in Ireland. This initiative allows trainees in Ireland to apply for an opportunity to acquire skills in critical analysis and medical journalism. She is a Special Registrar in Radiology at Galway Hospital, pursuing a career in academic radiology. Her research has led her to present at revered conferences like the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) and multiple Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE) Congresses such as the Embolotherapy Congress and the European Conference on Interventional Oncology.
Reviewer Mentorship Program
Congratulations are also extended to the following new participants in the Reviewer Mentorship Program. Mentees will work closely with their mentors on better understanding the two major tenets of peer review: evaluating the quality of the study design and the completeness of reporting. This is an exciting opportunity to become a proficient peer reviewer.
