When radiologists gather in Montreal from April 16 to 19 for the CAR 2026 Annual Scientific Meeting, they will encounter a program shaped less by spectacle than by substance—and by a clear sense of where the profession is headed.
The scientific program brings together leading voices from across Canada and around the world, offering a careful examination of the ideas, evidence, and innovations reshaping radiology. Sessions span a wide range of subspecialties and clinical contexts, pairing emerging research with thoughtful reviews of current practice. This year’s theme, Seeing What Matters: Driving Canadian Radiology Forward, frames discussions on technological change, the responsible integration of innovation, and the evolving role of radiologists within a complex health system.
Beyond technology and research, the program makes space for reflection. Sessions address the professional realities of modern practice, including physician wellness, burnout, and the collective responsibility to strengthen the radiology community. Networking and informal exchange—long a hallmark of the meeting—are woven throughout the program, reinforcing its role as both an educational and professional gathering.
The plenary sessions anchor the meeting, featuring speakers whose careers span diverse health systems and clinical environments worldwide. Together, they offer perspective shaped by experience rather than trend, making the plenary series one of the defining elements of the 2026 program.

Accredited Symposia
There are two lunchtime accredited symposia at CAR 2026 designed to enhance your knowledge on critical topics while earning MOC credits.
The Critical Role of Imaging in Alzheimer’s and ARIA Diagnosis
Co-developed with Eisai
This symposium provides an in-depth examination of neuroradiology and the critical role of imaging when diagnosing Alzheimer’s disease and amyloid-related imaging abnormalities (ARIA).
Dr. Manish Joshi – speaker
Dr. Carlos Torres – moderator
Friday, April 17, 12:15-1:15pm
The Changing Landscape of MRI Contrast
Co-developed with Bayer
As MRI contrast agents undergo constant evolution, increasing attention must be paid to patient safety and environmental sustainability. This symposium examines how newer contrast agents can perform diagnostic imaging under lower doses and impact the environment positively.
Dr. Kate Hanneman – speaker

Research in Action
A staple of the CAR’s Annual Scientific Meeting is the Abstract Oral Competition Presentations, where exciting groups of researchers will discuss their findings through oral presentations and electronic poster displays.

On Friday, April 17, and Saturday, April 18, presenters will share their group’s research for an audience and a panel of expert judges. Attendees can watch these presentations as they happen or review the slide decks at one of the Electronic Poster Viewing Stations located throughout the venue.
Selected authors will also take part in the Short Oral Abstract Presentations, offering a bite-sized summary of their work to a live audience of attendees. All attendees are encouraged to take in a presentation or scroll through the research on the CAR 2026 app or at the Electronic Poster Viewing Stations.
With an exciting assortment of session topics, speakers, and research, CAR 2026 is Canada’s can-miss radiology event. Stay tuned for registration information coming soon.
