A prominent Canadian radiologist will be a featured keynote speaker in Ukraine at Congress ARU 2025.

Dr. Michael Patlas was invited to deliver a keynote presentation on emergency radiology in Kyiv, Ukraine from September 10-12, 2025.

“It is a tremendous honour to be named a keynote speaker for the national conference,” said Dr. Patlas. “It is also a great opportunity to share Canadian knowledge with an international audience.”

Dr. Patlas says his keynote presentation will focus on imaging patients with penetrating abdominal trauma.

“There is a recent paradigm shift in management approaches regarding patients with penetrating injuries. Imaging triage in these patients allows them to avoid undergoing an unnecessary surgery.”

The relationship between Canadian and Ukrainian radiology dates back several years. Dr. Patlas has consistently engaged with doctors in Ukraine to share insights in emergency radiology by hosting educational initiatives and a webinar series.

Dr. Patlas believes it is important to spread the great work of Canadian emergency radiologists with others worldwide.

“Canadian radiologists have made seminal contributions to the field of Trauma Imaging. Collaboration at international conferences is a great opportunity to share the knowledge, create new professional networks, and start new multicenter studies.”
