The successful candidate will join a collegial and academically active group of pediatric radiologists and will contribute to the delivery and continued development of comprehensive pediatric imaging services across Manitoba and surrounding regions. The Section of Pediatric Radiology is located in Winnipeg Children’s Hospital – the only tertiary pediatric referral center in Manitoba, with a catchment area extending into portions of Nunavut and Northwestern Ontario. Our state-of-the-art pediatric imaging center provides comprehensive imaging services across the full spectrum of pediatric body, musculoskeletal, thoracic, and central nervous system imaging.
The Section comprises 10 congenial pediatric radiologists, including five full-time and five part-time members. On-call responsibilities are shared equally among the radiologists.
The Section currently performs approximately 52,568 examinations annually, including: 33,881 radiographs, 556 fluoroscopic examinations, 9,189 ultrasounds, 3,952 MRI, and 3,903 CT examinations.
All members of the Section hold academic appointments with the University of Manitoba. The Section is committed to excellence in education and provides teaching to radiology residents, pediatric residents, and medical students. Participation in research and scholarly activities is encouraged.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical responsibilities will include interpretation of the full range of diagnostic pediatric imaging examinations. Close collaboration with clinical colleagues is expected, with participation in numerous scheduled multidisciplinary clinical-imaging rounds. This recruitment is intended to address the growing demand for pediatric imaging services and to recruit a radiologist with expertise in pediatric interventional radiology.
Qualifications
Candidates must be eligible for licensure in Manitoba through the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM), including:
- Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Diagnostic Radiology; or
- Equivalent credentials from another jurisdiction, subject to assessment by the University of Manitoba and the CPSM for eligibility for licensure in Manitoba.
The requirements include:
- Fellowship training in Pediatric Radiology; and
One of the following:
- Fellowship training in Pediatric Interventional Radiology; or
- Expertise in non-vascular pediatric interventional radiology, with a commitment to undertake formal fellowship training in Pediatric Interventional Radiology; or
- An undertaking to complete a Pediatric Interventional Radiology fellowship.
