Island Health’s Department of Medical Imaging in Duncan is seeking a full-time Radiologist for Cowichan District Hospital (CDH). With a new hospital scheduled to open in 2027 and planned expansion of radiologic services, this position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the design and optimization of a modern hospital and imaging department.
The successful candidate will join a collegial group of 7 radiologists within a supportive medical community and enjoy a high-quality lifestyle on Vancouver Island.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive radiology services including: CT, Ultrasound, MRI, Mammography, Fluoroscopy, Bone Mineral Densitometry (BMD), Basic interventional procedures
- Participate in the growth and development of imaging services in anticipation of the new hospital opening
- Collaborate effectively within a small group practice
- Contribute to administrative responsibilities and support future leadership within the group
- Maintain flexibility in workload, supporting both lifestyle balance and service needs
- Participate in additional training as required, including: CT Cardiac Coronary Angiography, CT Colonography
Qualifications
- Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Radiology
- Eligibility for full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a small team environment
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a collegial approach
- MRI or MSK subspecialty interest (asset)
- Willingness to engage in group leadership and administrative roles
- Interest in living and contributing to the local Vancouver Island community

Compensation & Benefits
Candidates may be eligible for additional remuneration under the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA), including:
- Relocation reimbursement (up to $15,000)
- Recruitment incentive of $10,000
- Fee premium of 4.20%
- Annual flat fee of $6,508.80
- Rural CME funding starting at $3,000 annually (years 3–4), increasing to a maximum of $6,000 after 4 years
