We have exciting news, the CAR Mammography Accreditation Program (MAP) is going digital. The CAR has acquired an online system and launches in early 2019. This means that we will no longer be accepting paper forms.
The transition to digital allows for a rapid review of information and lets MAP update content on a frequent basis; transitioning the program away from Quality Assurance towards Quality Improvement.
What does this mean for you? As a radiologist, you’ll be responsible for submitting your own profile and CPD information into our new web portal. The biggest change will be that all credits earned will be on their own independent three-year cycle. Credits earned January 10, 2016, expire January 10, 2019. To ease the transition, the CAR is granting all radiologists a six-month grace period to increase their credits to the required 15 (7.5 accredited, 7.5 self-directed).
Over the coming months, we’ll be releasing details including MAP updates to accredited facilities.
Stay tuned for more updates.
