On Saturday, October 17, your Board of Directors met to discuss priorities in the face of the pressures of the pandemic outbreak. The Board remains committed to advancing the radiology profession and supporting our members through the pandemic and beyond. Patient Care, Advocacy, and Education continue to be the top priorities for the CAR and are all reflective of the most recent membership survey.
We have had a lot of success this past year offering virtual education opportunities, publishing a record number of practice guidelines, developing pandemic related resources, and advocating for the future of radiology in Canada.
Some highlights from the meeting include:
- The Board renewed its focus with a thorough review of the strategic plan in conjunction with member feedback. We are on the right track and will stay the course on the existing priorities.
- Education is thriving at the CAR with an 80% increase in offerings. RAD Academy continues to offer new courses and online learning activities for radiologists and radiologists-in-training. We have introduced webinar opportunities and are well-positioned to deliver a high caliber virtual annual scientific meeting in April 2021.
- The CAR has published 25 guidelines in the past two years. Kudos to our volunteer members who were involved in publishing these guidelines which are receiving a record number of citations through the revitalized CARJ.
- Member engagement is critical to success. Now more than ever, we need to share the same voice and amplify our efforts. If we all are rowing in the same direction, we will have a larger impact on the future of radiology.
We are thankful for the support of our members. A shout out to our volunteer members on our various committees/working groups and our Board members who take the time to make an impact on the radiology profession in Canada. It is thanks to our members and their involvement in the association that we have experienced so much success.
There is an opportunity to build on this good work and continue to grow. We are looking for individuals to come forward and to get involved. There is an open position in western Canada on our Board of Directors and as always, the opportunity to join one of our many working groups. I encourage you to reach out to [email protected] should you wish to be involved further with the CAR.
