Chair/Professor/Associate Professor – Toronto

Applications are invited for the position of Chair of the Department of Medical Imaging in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. The successful candidate must hold an academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor and a clinical appointment at a fully-affiliated hospital, as appropriate. The appointment as Chair will be for a 5-year term effective July 1, 2023, renewable following a favourable review.

The successful candidate must be a scholar, experienced clinician and innovator. In addition to a record of excellence in research, creative professional activity and teaching, the Chair will possess outstanding leadership, management and communication skills, enabling leadership of a large department distributed across many fully- and community-affiliated hospitals. Strong interpersonal skills are necessary—in addition to creative approaches to person-centred, empathy-informed problem-solving. They will be committed to excellence in education and have a track record of successful collaborative and inclusive leadership. The Chair will have a sophisticated understanding of forging collaborative relationships in the public and private sectors and utilizing effective strategies to build and sustain effective partnerships locally, nationally and internationally. The Chair will bring an inclusive vision and be deeply committed to practically implementing the principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, Indigeneity and accessibility (EDIIA) in teaching, mentorship, research collaborations, faculty development, alumni engagement and in developing a future vision of the Department. The Chair will oversee over the promotion and implementation of strategic priorities; recruitment, development and retention of faculty; fostering of collaborations with internal and external partners; and education and research programs in a geographically-dispersed department. Experience in both alumni relationship-building and successful fundraising would be an asset.

The successful candidate must have the vision and ability to take the Department of Medical Imaging to an even higher level of academic achievement and recognition.
