Abdominal Radiologist – Ottawa | The Ottawa Hospital

The Department of Medical Imaging at The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) is seeking an academic, fellowship-trained Abdominal Radiologist with interest in oncologic imaging for a position starting as soon as possible, to join the Abdominal Section of a Department of approximately 60 sub-specialty radiologists. The candidate will serve the three campuses of The Ottawa Hospital, the core adult teaching hospital for the University of Ottawa, as well as affiliated community hospitals and ancillary programs. The successful candidate will work as part of an academic subspecialty team to provide expertise in imaging and image-guided procedures of the abdomen and pelvis, supporting strong programs in oncology and acute care amongst others. Procedural skills are mandatory as the position requires performance of image guided procedures including ultrasound and CT-guided biopsies. Academic record of accomplishment or a demonstrated interest in leading the team in diverse areas of academic excellence (Research, Education, Leadership, Translational, Quality Innovation, Bench/clinical/knowledge translation, and artificial intelligence/computer science) will be important considerations for the selection committee. The academic environment at TOH is strongly committed to develop your academic career with mentorship, protected time, and opportunities to collaborate with peers and allied scientists (Please inquire at time of interview). The candidate will be expected to participate in all modalities including radiography, ultrasound, CT, MR, and fluoroscopy. Demonstrated scholarly activity of research, education or quality improvement are required. The successful candidate will hold certification in Diagnostic Radiology with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or international equivalent. As the central hub of an integrated regional health system and Canada’s largest teaching and research hospital, TOH is a level 1 trauma, 1,200-bed tertiary, academic health sciences centre serving a population of 1.2 million. The Department of Medical Imaging, at The Ottawa Hospital is one of five departments or divisions and three hospital groups contributing to the academic mission of the Department of Radiology, Radiation Oncology and Medical Physics, within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa. The Department of Radiology, Radiation Oncology and Medical Physics comprises 58 Radiologists, 22 Radiation Oncologists, 18 Medical Physicists, 5 scientists (with skills in virtual reality, imaging processing and artificial intelligence), 1 educationalist, 47 residents, and 30 fellows. The Department has an established record of recognized excellence in postgraduate, graduate, and undergraduate Medical Imaging education. The Department oversees a Preclinical Imaging Core equipped with 7T MRI, Ultrasound, and PET-CT facilitating basic science research. The affiliated Ottawa Hospital Research Institute provides world-class research support and opportunities for collaborative translational Medical Imaging research. CHEO’s Department of Medical Imaging includes 11 staff members, 5 Pediatric Radiology fellows per year and rotating Diagnostic Radiology residents from the Department of Radiology. Our department prides itself on its excellent collaboration between the radiologists and the CHEO clinicians, both in clinical and research areas. Quality education of our trainees is one of our top priorities. Teaching and clinical research are integral parts of this role, and the successful candidate will work closely with Radiology fellows and residents, demonstrating strong communication skills and aspiring to advance academic radiology. Our department is responsible for all body, musculoskeletal, thoracic and neuroimaging in pediatric patients for the region of Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec, as well as surrounding areas. We also provide non-urgent adult MR services to the same region. The department comprises of 2 clinical MRIs (1.5T and 3T), 9 ultrasound rooms, 1 CT, 1 fluoroscopy suite, 1 interventional suite, 3 radiographic rooms plus EOS for spinal imaging, 1 SPECT/CT camera, 1 BMD and 1 pQCT. Our department is looking for subspeciality training in the following areas:
  • Neuroradiology
  • Body/MSK Imaging
  • Interventional Radiology
  • Nuclear Medicine
CHEO invites applications from candidates who have strong operational and academic leadership skills and a proven record of achievement in comprehensive patient care, clinical program development, education, research, and/or quality assurance. Candidates must be eligible for a full-time academic appointment in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa. While English is the language of the health record, functionality in French is an asset. Canada Diagnostic Centres is seeking a skilled and versatile radiologist for a rewarding and well compensated career as a consultant within our growing outpatient clinic practice in Edmonton, Alberta.

Start date is flexible but prior to November 1st 2023 is preferred.

Remuneration monthly based on a fixed share of fee for service billings. Vacation is highly flexible.

The ideal candidate should:
  • Be proficient in adult and general pediatric radiography;
  • Be proficient in general body ultrasound, Obstetrical ultrasound, Vascular ultrasound, MSK ultrasound, and Breast ultrasound;
  • Be proficient in or demonstrate aptitude for basic image-guided MSK and spine procedures for pain management, under both fluoroscopy and ultrasound as applicable;
  • Be proficient in breast imaging, including screening and diagnostic mammography;
  • Able to, or willing to learn and perform DEXA BMD and adult esophograms/UGI;
  • Be comfortable in the clinical care of patients as required including history, physical exam, and counselling, including but not limited to women’s health issues;
  • Be comfortable in the emergency care of unwell patients;
  • Be able to successfully manage and cultivate relationships with fellow radiologists and staff, referring physicians, and patients alike.

Onsite training can be arranged for some of these areas.  Please let us know as required.

Requirements:
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, Diagnostic Radiology or equivalent
  • Up to date CPR certification
  • College of physicians and Surgeons of Alberta licensure or eligibility, Diagnostic Radiology
  • Canadian Association of Radiologists mammography accreditation or eligibility
  • CMPA membership
  • Eligible for an Alberta Health billing number and practitioner ID

General Radiologist - Full-Time / Part-Time

Brockville General Hospital (BGH) is seeking 1 full-time or 2 part-time General Radiologist(s) to join our Department of Diagnostic Imaging and its team of 3 full-time Radiologists. BGH is a 160 bed, acute care community hospital, serving a regional population of approximately 125,000. BGH has an ER Department, and inpatient services including a 10 bed Intensive Care unit, Acute Medicine, Women’s and Children’s Health, Mental Health, Rehabilitation and Surgery. We provide General Radiology services including radiography, ultrasound, breast imaging, BMD, CT, fluoroscopy and limited non-vascular interventional radiology. A new MRI will be installed and operational in the spring of 2024. We are a small, collegial group. We generally work out of the hospital but have the ability to read remotely. We place emphasis on work-life balance while providing quality care to the community. Radiologists provide partial on-call services, supplemented by Teleradiology. Qualifications
  • Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification (FRCPC)
  • Have, or eligible for, Independent Registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
  • Expertise in breast imaging (including stereotactic and tomosynthesis) would be an asset.
  • Fellowship training is preferred, but not mandatory.
  • New graduates are welcome to apply.

The candidate will serve the three campuses of The Ottawa Hospital - the core adult teaching hospital for the University of Ottawa, as well as the community hospitals of the Ottawa region. Additional imaging skillsets will be deemed an asset. As part of the Breast section, he/she will be responsible to work collaboratively as part of a highly efficient team for providing dedicated breast imaging expertise, including interpreting breast ultrasound and breast MRI (1.5, 3T), digital breast tomosynthesis and full field digital mammography and performing image-guided breast biopsies. He/she will provide consultations for the full spectrum of breast imaging and will be able to perform all image guided interventional procedures in breast, including stereotactic, ultrasound and MRI guided biopsies, aspirations and drainages, as well as radioactive seed breast localizations. In addition, he/she should be willing and able to perform general, non-breast imaging radiology tasks, and non-neuro, non-interventional call. The candidate will also be required to workday shifts, evening shifts and on-call assignments including weekends. As the central hub of an integrated regional health system and Canada’s largest teaching and research hospital, TOH is the largest hospital in Canada, is a level 1 trauma, 1,200-bed tertiary, academic health sciences centre serving a population of 1.2M. The Ottawa Hospital is the core adult teaching hospital for the University of Ottawa. The successful candidate’s academic rank within the University of Ottawa will be commensurate with the level of experience. With the academic component of this position, there is an expectation of participation in undergraduate medical education, residency training, and research. Responsibilities in Breast Imaging include Mammography, Breast Ultrasound, and multimodality Breast interventional procedures. Breast MRI and biopsies are performed on a weekly basis. Obstetrical service is provided through an active and expanding Fetal Assessment Unit, an in-house Fertility clinic, and a busy emergency department. Gynecologic sonograms are components of the clinical service. There is a strong collaboration with specialists through Breast Surgery and Obstetrics & Gynecology. There is regular consultation with physicians in the Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario through participation in Breast and Gynecology-Oncology Multidisciplinary Rounds. Participation in the Department Body/Plain Films On-call schedule is a requirement. There is expectation of the roll-out of a Women’s Imaging Fellowship in the not-too-distant future. The Department of Radiology at Stanford University Medical Center is accepting applications to one Cardiovascular-Chest Imaging fellowship position for the term from July 2024 to June 2025. Two program options are offered to meet different objectives of the trainee. The first program is designed for practicing radiologists who desire intensive training and review in cardiovascular and thoracic imaging within a condensed curriculum of six-months in each subspecialty. Trainee will learn cardiovascular CT and MRI and their applications in a broad range of studies, such as coronary CT angiography and MRI stress perfusion scans. The thoracic component will expose the trainee to a high-volume CT practice rich in oncology and interstitial lung disease imaging studies. The second program option is targeted to radiologists who wish to pursue academic activities and participate in research supervised by faculty. The cardiovascular component of this curriculum is expanded to include dedicated research time. Upon completion of either program, the trainee will qualify for advanced practitioner (level 3) certifications for cardiac CT by the Society of Cardiovascular CT and for cardiac MRI by the Society for Cardiovascular MR.
